My trip to Bintan Island involved yet another early start, I was so tired by this point that I was almost tempted to stay in bed. The thought of spending the day in an Indonesian paradise soon had me jumping out of bed though! There are several different resorts you can stay in on Bintan, we decided to go with Nirwana Gardens as we were only going for the day, it was reasonably priced and not too far from the ferry terminal which meant we could spend more time there.
There are so many things that you can do in Sydney, but when you only have 30 hours you don’t have anywhere enough time to do everything. One of the things on my list of potential things to do in Sydney was to visit the Blue Mountains. The Blue Mountains are a 2 hour train journey to the north-west of Sydney, we work a night flight from SIN to SYD and as you would expect the crew are all tired beyond belief, so I didn’t think anyone would want to come with me and I didn’t think it was wise to go alone. Thankfully some of the crew where up for an adventure, so after a quick shower and shovelling some food down our throats at the hotel breakfast buffet we made our way to the train station for what would turn out to be an amazing day.
Katoomba was such a cute little town
I was over the moon to be rostered another trip to SIN and SYD recently, for those of you who don’t know it is a 9 day trip which consists of 2 nights in SIN, 1 night in SYD and another 2 nights in SIN. It is the most popular trip and is most crews top bid. As with my previous SIN/SYD posts, which you can read about here, here and here, I will split the trip into three separate posts to make it easier to read 🙂
The flight out to Singapore was pretty easy and straightforward, the only issue for me was the fact it is so long and feeling bored/tired while waiting to go on second break!
As with any long trip a Whatsapp group was set up, quite a few suggested going to Sentosa. I’ve already been to Sentosa before and while I wasn’t really too fussed about going back, I think my brain was too tired to function and I couldn’t think of anything else to do (despite making a list with at least 6 or 7 things I wanted to do in Singapore before I left home!!) so I said I would go too lol! Here is where I will be jetting off to in May, no new destinations (hopefully that will change if a swap goes though though!) but I am happy to be going back to JNB for some relaxing in the sun 🙂
I am really looking forward to my JNB trips, I have worked with quite a lot of the crew before so I will hopefully have 2 great trips to look forward too.
I’m not too bothered if I go back to AUH, although I would like to swap it for somewhere else.
I will be putting in for unpaid leave for the BLL, the report is super early which means I have to stay in a hotel the night before and the duty isn’t long, so financially I am losing rather than gaining. I really hope I can get it off!!
I also have some annual leave, but I don’t have any plans yet.
I just did the most amazing SIN/SYD trip, so I will post about it ASAP 🙂
Philly was one of the destinations that I would bid for every month, but I would never get. It was really frustrating because it seemed like everyone I knew was getting a trip apart from me. Since January however, I have been rostered 3 in the space of about 6 weeks! I’m just going to combine what I did into the one post because, I didn’t really do enough on each individual trip to justify writing separate posts. Hope you enjoy!
I’ve been to Miami twice since we got the route back on my fleet, considering it’s a place I wasn’t too fussed about going to I had a lovely time each visit especially as both where team trips so I had some familiar faces.
On my first trip to Miami I went on a boat tour of the houses of the rich and famous, it was a nice relaxed way to spend an hour or two. I got major home envy, if I ever win the lottery (hard seeing as I don’t play it lol) I would definitely buy myself a house here as it is gorgeous!
Well hello there, it’s been a while hasn’t it!? I’ve not really felt the urge to write any posts due to a variety of reasons: high hours so no trips, loooot’s of time off so no trips and a general lack of inspiration. If I’m being honest I found myself getting bored, it felt like I was just going to the same places over and over 😦 Thankfully I am now trained on the B787 😀 I think all crew want to get trained on it, but it is especially true for those of us on the A380 as going to the same 2 destinations can get ever so slightly boring no matter how nice the JNB hotel is!
I think if I’m being completely honest, another reason I haven’t been posting is because I have never 100% felt comfortable about the fact that I name my employer on my blog. I am anonymous and I’ve never posted anything ‘bad’, but there is always a part of me that feels super paranoid lol! Like I’m going to get called into a meeting to discuss a post I wrote about Vancouver or something! I think for that reason, I am going to remove all reference to my employer, it will no doubt affect my views and stats but so be it 🙂
I got given a great roster for April, I am very fortunate to be going on another SIN/SYD trip I am so excited and can’t wait! I also have 2 new destinations in Baltimore and Toronto, I am super excited about Toronto and while I’m not as excited by Baltimore I’m sure I’ll find something to do. I feel like I have finally perfected my bids these past 3/4 months, I’ve found that not bidding for specific destinations has really worked for me.
I’ve got quite a few pics on my phone from places I’ve been since I last posted, so when I have a chance I’ll look through them and see if I can get a few posts up 🙂
Bye for now
