Chi-Town: The Windy City

I’ve just came back from Chicago, I can easily say that it is my favourite US city that I have visited since I started flying. The hotel is in pretty much the perfect location, near to lots of restaurants and things to do.  Most of the hotels that we stay in whilst in the States are miles away from anything even remotely interesting and the highlight of your trip is a visit to the mall or Walmart.

Again I had another great crew, I’m on a roll lately with amazing crew’s 🙂 We got to the hotel quite late at about 9pm-ish, after a quick shower and change of clothes I headed down to the hotel bar to meet some of the crew for a well-earned cocktail. OMG it was the strongest cocktail I’ve ever had, I felt tipsy just smelling it! We had a nice little chat and something to eat, before heading to bed.

The next morning most of us met to go for breakfast, we went to a place that one of the flight crew had recommended Sunny Side Up where I had the biggest plate of pancakes ever.

Stuffed full of carbs and coffee, myself and a few of the crew headed to the 360 Observation Deck at the top of the John Hancock Center. There are two towers from which you can get a view of Chicago, the John Hancock Center and the Skydeck at the Willis Tower. The Willis Tower is the tallest building in Chicago, so it obviously gives completely clear views of the skyline. We were nearer to the 360 though and were feeling lazy and too stuffed after breakfast to walk too far. The view from the 360 was absolutely incredible, and we all thought it was cool that we could see the Willis Tower. It was a beautiful clear day so the views we got were incredible, we could see across Lake Michigan and according to Google you can see across Illinois and also Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. One of the girls and I did Tilt for an extra $7, I don’t really think it was worth it because all you got was a clearer view of the pavement lol, but it did feel like a strange experience nonetheless.

After we were satisfied that we had seen enough of the Chicago skyline, we headed back down to ground, were we split up. A few went shopping or back to the hotel, it was still only early afternoon and I wanted to explore so I went with one of the guys for a walk to Navy Pier and one of the man-made beaches before finally going back to the hotel so I could get some rest (which was rudely interrupted by house keeping who opened my door despite the ‘do not disturb’ sign grr!) and pack my stuff together.

I loved Chicago so much that I’m seriously thinking of trying to convince my bf to come with me for a wee holiday.
