I’ve been to Johannesburg, or Joburg as it is commonly called, 6 maybe even 7 times now but I’ve never thought to write a post. I had a really nice trip recently so thought I would pop up a post. Most trips to Joburg are made up of 3 basics: pool, wine/cocktails and steak so I suppose that is why I’ve never made a post as it could be seen as boring couldn’t it??! The hotel we stay in is absolutely gorgeous, it’s a favourite of all the crew.
On landing day we got to the hotel round about 9am, as it had been a night flight and I’d been up since 8am the day before I slept until about 2pm. I then headed down to the pool where I had a delicious strawberry daiquiri and had a chat with a few of the girls.
In the evening pretty much most of the crew, we have 22 on the A380, plus the flight crew went out for dinner. My steak was nice, but I wish I’d gotten it cooked just a little bit more as it was a bit rarer than I was expecting, still super tasty all the same! After dinner we went to a nearby bar where there was live music, and we drank and danced the night away 🙂
The next morning I met up with one of the girls to go to breakfast, eating breakfast outside in the sun is such a nice way to start your day 🙂 We are really lucky to stay in a luxury hotel that is part of an entertainment complex (we don’t stay in Johannesburg city centre) one of the perks is that we are given free tickets to go to a nearby bird garden. I’d never been before so we thought it would be a nice way to pass a few hours, if any current or wannabe crew are reading I would definitely recommend that you pay it a visit. It was fascinating to see such beautiful creatures, I’ve never been a bird person but I was mesmerized by how bright and colourful the parrots and macaws were.
I loved the meerkats so much, they are so cute and playful!
I love Joburg and I hope I don’t have to wait too long until my next visit!
